Missed Period While on Birth Control: Possible Pregnancy & Symptoms

Question
Okay, I am 21, and I've been taking birth control pills for about 18 months.  Since I started the pill my periods are usually very regular.  Lately, I've been experiencing nausea off and on during the day (mostly at night), and I've been more tired.  I've also had some cramping, which I assumed was because my period was due, but I haven't had a period and the cramping is still there.

My last period was August 20, and I should have started again September 16.  I did miss one pill during this cycle, during the third week.  It is extremely likely that my husband and I had sex during the time I would normally ovulate.  I can't remember the exact dates we did though.

My question is could the pill I missed cause me to miss a period?  I'll probably get a pregnancy test today anyway, but I was wondering if the missed pill could be the reason my period is late.

Answer
First let me make sure you are late.  Do you know that anytime during your reminder pills or the time you do not take any pills is okay to start your period?  As long as you have not started the next pack you are NOT late.
Many women don't understand that and still track their cycles.
Missing a pill can through things off a bit but you should still have your period.
The best thing to do if you are worried is test like you are doing.
Good luck.
