Questionhello,
I have been on the contraceptive pill for about 7 years and everything has allways been fine!
but the past 5 months when i have my 7 day break i get cramps and mood swings like normal but no bleeding at all! this has happened 5 times running!
i am not pregnant and have been tested for infections and havent got any although the doc gave me antibiotics once anyway.
I have had 2 urine infections in the past year but nothing else.
I have lost about a stone and a bit in the past year and am thin but i eat properly and dont have any problems with food.
I have been very uncomfortable with this at times and i am naturally worried!
Do you have any sugestions on what it might be, obviously nothing will be writen in stone but i just wonder, and what do u think my next course of action should be? i live in the uk so docs dont like to send everyone off for operations and tests as its NHS and costs money! bad hey
Hope you can help
thanks a lot!
AnswerIt is very common to occasionally miss your bleeding during the placebo pills of the birth control pills. Remember, the bleeding you have is not really a period, but rather, merely "breakthrough" bleeding from a sudden drop in the amount of estrogen in your body. You do not require the bleeding, as long as you continue the pill as directed. If you want to have bleeding each month, you can switch to a lower dose pill, but you may also have bleeding throughout the month as well. I'm sure that you heard of Seasonale, the new pill that only gives you a period every 3 months. It is not dangerous or harmful to miss your period. Don't worry. The pill is still working and the efficacy is still 99.9%.
