QuestionHello,
I have may concerns about the plan B pill. I have had an abortion in the past about 3 years a go, I have taken the plan B pill seven months ago. I recently had sex and the condom broke, I don't want to take the Plan B pill because I don't know if it will effect me after taking it once before and having an abortion. Will the pill effect me from having kids in the future? Does it hurt my body in any way? Does it effect my eggs?
I just don't know enough about the plan B pill..
Thanks!
AnswerHi, Jane,
Plan B is dangerous, and the heck of it is, a woman takes it whether she "needs" to or not, so it can be an unnecessary risk. Every time you do something like this to your body, it's harmful. We don't really have enough experience to know whether or not these powerful drugs will affect a woman's body in the long run, or her eggs. I don't see the sense in taking it, personally. If you don't want to take it, don't.
You are aware that condoms can fail, because it happened to you. There are more reliable ways to protect you from pregnancy. Abstinence is completely reliable. Also, you can learn to tell when you are fertile, and avoid sex during that time. You have to chart faithfully, and you can't be using any hormones. For more information, go here:

If you do become pregnant, please don't have another abortion. Abortions are dangerous. Reading between the lines, it seems you aborted your first pregnancy. You would already be at risk for breast cancer while you are still young. So be vigilant. Mammograms are probably not a good idea; there are better and safer tests. Also, look into the possibility of taking Vitamin D3 to help prevent breast cancer. But if you have a history of breast cancer in your family, getting it is a virtual certainty. Having a second abortion will only increase the risk. And abortion could kill you, or cause serious disability in other ways.
Another thing you need to be aware of is the possibility that your first abortion could harm future children. If it was a surgical abortion, here are some things to watch out for. The first is that your cervix has been damaged, and may not be able to carry the weight of a full term baby. The result is that a woman is much more prone to miscarriage, or extreme prematurity. Extreme prematurity can cause several kinds of mental disability. The remedy is for the doctor to fasten the cervix shut until time for birth. There can also be difficulties at the time of birth, such as placenta previa or prolonged labor. Sometimes a Caesarian is required.
The other danger is that you could be unable to have children at all. The more abortions you have, the more likely this becomes.
If you did get pregnant, there is help available. There are over 5000 organizations in the United States that will offer many different kinds of help. To find one near you, go here:

If that is the case, check them out. The more information you have before doing anything, the better.
Take care, and stay safe! Let me know how you do.
