QuestionToday I am 6 weeks 5 days pregnant. I know this for sure because we have been TTC and we have been tracking everything. I had my HCG test done today and it came back 247,040. This seems pretty high to me. When the nurse called with the results she said everything was fine and those were good numbers. Are these numbers really ok? I don't go back until MArch 30th.
AnswerDear Sarah,
The normal ranges for hCG are pretty broad, but the average hCG level for 6 weeks is 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml and for 7-8 weeks is 7,650 - 229,000 mIU/ml. So, yes - your level would be considered a bit high if you are 6 weeks. Are you calculating 6 weeks, 5 days from LMP or from conception? Because all pregnancy dating is based on LMP and NOT the actual conception date. So, if you are calculating from what you believe to be the conception date, as far as the pregnancy/gestational age goes, you are actually more like 8 weeks, 5 days. However, if your level is high for gestational age at your visit on the 30th, I'm sure your OB doctor will evaluate the potential causes for that.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
