Understanding Low HCG Levels: What Does a Level of 52 Mean?

Hi,
My last period was November 4, 2005. I was supposed to start my period on December 1. On Monday, December 5, I had a blood test done and the HCG level was 52. Is this a bad sign?

If your last period started on November 4, then on December 5 you were only 4 weeks 3 days from your last period. At that time, the range of normal HCG value is 100-50,000. A value of only 52 is quite low and may mean that you do not have a viable pregnancy. It does not sound good.
