QuestionI just had a question regarding Lupron. Can you get pregnant on this? I have 3 boys already, and on a 6 month treatment of Lupron. I will be receiving my 6 and last shot of Lupron next week. The last couple of days I have felt nausea and fatigue. Could it be side effects from Lupron. I take my add back medication every day like I'm supposed to. I am being treated for Endometriosis. Thank you.
AnswerDear Tanya,
Because Lupron is not a contraceptive, it is possible to become pregnant on the medication, however it usually is during the first month of therapy - due to the way the medication works. You should always be using another (non-hormonal) form of birth control while on Lupron.
The fatigue and nausea you describe can be associated with the Lupron, as it is a hormonal medication. My concern would be that you are on the 6th and last month of treatment and should have noted the symptoms before now if they were directly related to the Lupron. However... Side effects that have been associated with the use of Lupron can include hot flashes and night sweats, and less frequently palpitations, syncope, and tachycardias. Other side effects include generalized pain, headaches, vaginitis, nausea/vomiting, fluid retention, weight gain, acne, hirsutism, joint pain, loss of sexual desire, depression, dizziness, nervousness, and breast changes such as tenderness and pain. Please note that if you feel that you may have conceived a pregnancy while on Lupron, it is always best to mention it to your doctor and have a definitive pregnancy test run.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
