QuestionHelene,
I must say I have been inspired by the comments and the information I've read regarding pregnancy and the technical name of what I have concerning my abdominal muscles being stretched. I have been doing everything that you said not to do ( that is before I got a revelation reading your articles online.) I've been doing sit ups , crunches etc. I'm so desperate to get that body back that I once have. I can never get rid of the stretch marks and that ok. My only concern is getting the abdominal rectus to close back up. I'm able to stick 3 or 4 figure on my abdominal wall. I'm 170lbs and 5'6. My belly slightly protrudes, leaving me the embarrassing pregnancy bulge.
I only have one question before I began my workout regimen that you've suggested. Will your video Bounce back fast! Postnatal core conditioning help me,if it's been four years since I had a baby?
AnswerYes, retraining your abs so that your Transverse Abdominis is both stronger and functions properly is key to flattening your abdomen after pregnancy, even if it's been years.
You don't say how you are testing your mid line, but you should be able to close your mid line at least part way. Everyone has a wider mid line after pregnancy than before.
Make sure that you learn how to do the Belly Lacing and Belly Scooping exercises from the first workout really well, as these two form the technical basis for the program. Sometimes, for women who've done lots of crunches and sit-ups, the belly scooping move can take some body re-education.
