PCOS & Pregnancy: Understanding Tests and Cycles

Question
I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago.  I have been trying to get pregnant ever since I had my daughter two years ago.  I had very irregular cycles and went to a fertility specialist for six months and went through numerous tests and cycles of clomid, ovidrel, and metformin.  I decided to take a break from all that and have been medicine free for about 4 months.  My last period began on Sept. 25 and I believe I may be pregnant.  I have been urinating more frequently and really tired.  I also have had some dizzy spells, back pain, and bloatedness. My biggest concern is the pains I get when I get up or move too quickly.   However, I have taken numerous home pregnancy tests and they have all been negative.  This happened with my daughter as well.  How long should I wait on this cycle before I see a doctor?

Answer
Hi Kim :)

We are almost in November now, so seeing a doctor now would be just fine :) If they do a beta HCG blood test, the result would be accurate. An internal at this point as well, and ultrasound would also indicate pregnancy if it exists.

Your symptoms sure do sound pregnancy like! I know PCOS is tough, especially when trying to get pregnant.

I did some calculations, now with the assumption your period is a 28 day. But just to give you some insite, you are technically late on your period. You were do your period, roughly the 23 of this month. So definatly, at this  point if you were pregnant, it could be detected by your doctor.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Good luck and take care!
