Pregnancy Symptoms: Understanding Possible Signs & When to Test
QuestionMy period may or may not be late. I don't remember the exact dates for my last one. I want to wait at least a week to test just to be sure. I've been having nausea, a few times last week and then pretty constantly for the past 2 days. I've also been having to pee quite often, sometimes every 1/2 hour. My breasts have been sore and I have had some minor cramping in the past couple of days. I have also been feeling warm. Do any of these symptoms rule out pregnancy or pre-menstrual symptoms? Thank you.
AnswerYour symptoms do not rule out either pregnancy or PMS. Often, PMS can very closely mimic pregnancy, even to the point of food aversions and round ligament pains in some women. Our bodies are designed to act as if we are pregnant from the time of ovulation, at least until the body realizes that the egg has not been fertilized. So it is very common to feel pregnant, whether you are or not. Until you get your period, your body doesn't really know whether you're pregnant or not, either.
You could try testing now, rather than waiting another week. Some pregnancy tests are sensitive enough to detect a pregnancy this early.
