Conceiving After Abortion: A Guide to Fertility and Pregnancy

Hi, i have been trying to conceive for the past 13 months since August of 2007 and i haven't been able to get pregnant. I will be 21 this year and i haven't been pregnant since i was 16 when i had a abortion twice in one year. After i had the abortions i was on birth control(patch) for the next 3 years until may of 2007 when i received my first and last depo shot. I know that it may be challenging to conceive after being on birth control for so long but do you think that the abortions and birth control have made me infertile?

Hi Shanika,

I'm not a doctor so I advise you to check with your personal physician. I have heard stories of infertility from abortion but can't say if that is your problem. Also, the patch and depo shot have hormones in them and I don't know if there is any research out on whether that would cause infertility. I would urge you to research Natural Family Planning.
