QuestionHi, I am 34 yrs old. I had normal menstruation from 13 yrs old. Then became anorexic from 18 -20 years old. Regained weight. Went on depoprovera for about 6-7years. Stopped. Eating disorder again - weight lost - over exercise and bulimia - laxative abuse for the last 16 years. I have not menstruated for over 14 years, except spotty bleeding 6 years ago because I had a depoprovera shot after a 1 year break from it. I have asked many doctors but they cannot give me a clear answer.
My questions are am I still ovulating, and if having unprotected sex what are the chances of me getting pregnant - since I am not menstruating and have not for years. I am close to my mid-30s. I am about 14 % bodyfat but BMI in the overweight range because I do weight training so muscle weight possibly skewing the BMI. I still exercise daily for over an hour and purge with laxatives as well. Many thanks in advance
Answeryou are not going to get an answer for your question of "what are the chances of getting pregnant."
You can prove if you are ovulating or not. The fact that you don't have periods suggests that you are not but that is not even close to 100% accurate. There are blood tests that are taken a few times throughout the month that can prove whether you are ovulating or not though.
I would consider yourself able but unlikely to become pregnant given your history.
Have you considered a reputable treatment center for your eating disorder, like Ridgeview in Atlanta?
