QuestionHi, I am 22 and married. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for 8 months. We seem to be having some trouble. My last period began October 29. It has been regular for the last year, 28 day cycles. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. I have been experience strange "cramping", but it is not painful, just strange. Could I be pregnant? If not, what could be wrong?
Thanks so much!
AnswerIf your last period started on October 29, and you have regular cycles of 28 days each (from the first day of your period until the first day of the next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. That would have been on November 11. YOu could have become pregnant if you had sex on November 10,11,12, or 13. If you did, indeed, conceive on one of those days, a pregnancy test would have shown a positive result by November 25-December 2. If the test was negative today, you are not pregnant. YOu may merely have some hormonal imbalance or could just have missed your period this month without being pregnant. If you have symptoms of pregnancy (breast tenderness, nausea, or fatigue) take a blood test for pregnancy, which is a bit more accurate. Then you will know for sure.
