Pituitary Gland & Growth: Understanding Radiation Effects and HGH Therapy

Our grandson had brain cancer when he was 8 yrs.  He's just turned 15 & has been told the radiation affected his pituatary gland, and consequently his growth.  They say his growth plates are fused but there is a sx they could do.  Then they could administer HGH to help him grow.  Can you tell us anything about this type of surgery.
