The other morning I awoke, and found that my tongue was quite tender. I noticed a long cut on the side of it. There is now a bump and it feels as if more bumps are forming on the tip of my tongue. This strange problem is paired with nasal congestion and a slight fever. What do I do? - Saskatchewan, Canada

This might be a form of stomatitis (a mouth and tongue inflammation associated with a viral infection). Try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water and see if that helps. If this gets much more extensive, then you should see your doctor. You may need an anti-viral to quiet it down.
