Question I had a neurological exam today, the Dr. thinks I fibromylagia or MS, if I don't improve in a month he wants an MRI, I don't have INS. so he wanted to take the conservative approach I guess.
My question is, he did an exam on me, I had to walk on my toes and heels, touch his finger then my nose, and a number of other test. I passed them, what does that mean? What are they looking for when they do those test? How accurate are they?
Thanks!
AnswerHi Teana,
Those tests are part of the routine Neurologic exam. They test for muscle strenght and co-ordination. Depending on how you do on those and other tests, that can help in forming a diagnosis. An MRI is the gold standard in diagnosing MS. Conservative approach is OK. Just be sure you have follow up appointments so the Neurologist can check on the progression or regeression of your symptoms.
