Finger Discoloration and Pain: Causes and What to Do

Hello,
This morning I opened my car door handle and shortly after one of my fingers turned slightly blue on the underside of my 2 knuckles(only on 1 finger).  It swelled up a bit and is  still kind of stiff. The blue seems to be going away somewhat(but it isn't gone).  What advice can you give me please?

From your note, you didn't really smash anything on your finger, so what happened was that a tiny vein tore by the movement and leaked some blood into the finger.... there isn't a lot of room to expand in the finger, so it swells some, hurts some, then stops due to the pressure, then the blood is slowly carried away over days.   Ice - on for 20 min, then off for 2 hours for the first day will minimize swelling, otherwise, give it time......
