Answer
In early pregnancy, it is common and normal to experience some abdominal soreness or discomfort. Usually it occurs near your groin (on one side of the other) and you feel a "ripping" or "tearing" pain when you get out of bed or out of a chair or when you suddenly turn while walking. This pain is due to a stretching of your round ligaments (the ligamenst that anchor the uterus to the wall of your abdomen). The discomfort can be relieved with Tylenol or a heating pad (safe in pregnancy). You can also have some mild abdominal pains which we must attribute to "growing pains" due to the enlargement of the uterus (containing the baby) while pushing your other organs (intestines, liver, pancreas, etc.) up out of the way.  You can also have some pain from sequestration of gas in your intestines.
