Question
I've been having some pain and discomfort in my lower back, thighs and under my belly with some slight cramping more so on the right side. ive also been having alot of nausea and the pain is pretty uncomfortable. im very worried and have been under alot of stress and just started a new job yesterday. i just turned 26 weeks and i am very worried that it might be pre term labor. what do you think?

Answer
Some pain and discomfort is very common in pregnancy. Should the pains become intense, I would advise you to call your OB immediately. While this may simply be round ligament pain, a medical term used for the pain experienced when the round ligament stretches most commonly in the second to third trimester, It could potentially be something more concerning. I would suggest taking a warm bath and some Tylenol, see if that alleviates the discomfort. If that alleviates the pain, you may very well be experiencing round ligament pain. Either way, it is never a bad idea to call your OB. They are well accustomed to answering questions at any time and they are always encouraging patients to ask. I wish you the best of luck. God bless.

Sincerely,
