are there any alternatives to treatment of gastroenteritis other than ciproflaxin??????
the list of side effects is making me paranoid!!

First of all, let me explain that if you look at the side effects for any medication, it will make you drop your chin to the floor.  Check out Tylenol's side effects!

That being said, Cipro is a very safe drug.  It is very effective in certain types of gastroenteritis, because it works very well in the "gut" when taken orally.  One of the few antibiotics that does.

That being said, I don't know what the physician is specifically treating you for.  Gastroenteritis can be caused by many different things, and have many different degrees.

I would definitely speak with your physician if you are concerned about the medication, and about treatment.  I would be too afraid at this point to advise you, knowing very little of what it going on.
