Urinary Incontinence and Ammonia Odor After Coughing: Causes & Solutions

Question
I am female, 64 yrs old, a bit overweight, reasonably good health.  Every few months I get a cold (altho no nose congestion, no fever,  just congestion in my chest).  The coughing is very hard and continuous.  My biggest problem is every time I cough hard (which is frequent), urine leaks and it has a very, very strong ammonia odor that isn't normally there.  This always lasts about 4 days then things are back to normal.  But during these days I can't do anything for fear of having an accident and I'm constantly having to change clothing.  I know there are pills if this is an everyday problem, but why is the odor so strong and is there anything I can do next time.  I drink water, but not as much as I should as that makes the problem worse.  Thank you.. and I hope your health is on the mend!

Answer
faye;

well this is left over from when you went to the bathroom before,its left over,meaning you didnt totally empty your bladder,and that is way the ordor is so strong.

now, when you go to the bathroom,make sure you empty all,meaning you will have to do a few things.
leaning forward on the toilet and then back,see if this helps empty your bladder out.

i suggest making a doctor appointment,and see what he has to say,.

good luck.
