Toe Discoloration After Atrial Fibrillation Diagnosis: What Could It Be?

Question
I was just diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. I always wear polish on my toenails. I was just doing them today when I noticed both my big toes are blue about 1/3 of the way down! What would cause something like this? I'm very frightened right now.

Thank you very much for your time.

Answer
We worry about blood clots from atrial fib, but it would be very unlikely to get blood clots traveling to both big toes only... this needs to be looked at but I would think it is more likely the arteries clamping down, sometimes in response to some of the meds we use, like beta blockers.  Hope this helps...
