Lung Masses: Causes, Symptoms, and What to Expect
QuestionMy friend just went to the Doctor and he had a CT scan of her lungs and has found some masses on them. He said that they were small but the last time she went to him is was there and he wanted to keep an eye on them. Well now it has been a month and they are still there. So he is sending her to an Oncologist to go further into details on what it is. I know that they are looking to see if this is Cancer but my question is what are some of the other things that it could be and what is the percentage rate on survival on lung Cancer in the early stages if this is what it is. I will be waiting on you reply. I am scared for her.
Thanks
AnswerLung spots are always scary.... CT can suggest whether they are scars or cancer, but ultimately, a biopsy is needed.... sometimes they do a needle biopsy or sometimes an open biopsy.
The survival rate for lung cancer is pretty low, but definitely not zero.... there are many people who survive lung cancer, but the majority don't.... but don't jump the gun... you don't even know that it is cancer yet......
