QuestionDear Dr. Borucki
If you can give me any insight about the following situation, it would me MUCH appreciated.
thank you in advance.
male, 79 years old, never smoked or drank alcohol, had laproscopic gallbladder removal nine years ago
liver enzymes were high in blood test results. mri showd common bile duct blockage.
ercp showed stricture in bile duct, it looked smooth to the physician, bile brushings were mildly atypical.
eus showed pancreas did not look smooth.
cat scan showed pancreas looked ok
ca19 is 98
no symptoms other than the liver enzymes, which went back to normal after a plastic stent was inserted during the ercp
the doctors wont commit to a diagnosis
Answerit doesn't look like there is a cancer in the bile duct or pancreas, which is good.... if there isn't a cancer, then the stent should fix things up... if there is a cancer, then these are usually very bad. I can't commit to a diagnosis, but it looks like there isn't a cancer there and this is scar tissue that slowly worsened over years after the GB removal
