Addressing Unhealthy Eating Habits: A Husband's Dietary Concerns

Question
My husband is a 39-year-old men who has been on a horrible diet since he started college.
His main daily foods are:
multiple frozen pepperoni lean pockets,
big glass of chocolate milk with 6-8 tbsp of chocolate powder,
and 3 whole wheat plain sandwich buns,
with absolutely no vegetables,
but tons of candy.
About 2-3 times a week, he'll eat an apple and some baby carrots, and fast food burger and taco.
That's all he has been eating since I met him 13 years ago.
We went to the dietician, he just simply couldn't follow through.  He dislike Lots of food, and almost all vegetables and fruits make him throw up.
After all these years, I have given up my hope.
However, 2 years ago, he started his regular exercise routine.  So far his weight has been stable, though he is still between overweight to obese.  He doesn't smoke and drink alcohol at all.
I just want to know:
1. what will happen to him down the road if he continues this diet.
2. Is there any way for him to improve his diet?

Answer
Lynn,

To answer your questions:

1. what will happen to him down the road if he continues this diet.

Statistics and medical research shows such poor nutritional diets end poorly.... higher risk for heart disease, stroke and cancer.  Ultimately, a lower life expectancy with morbidity complications such as diabetes, and other medical issues.  Can't escape the facts, but then there is chance... take George Burns for example... the drank excessively (EtOH) and smoked a cigar daily, and lived to be 100 years old.  Go figure.  That is NOT the norm, and if you treat your body poorly, it will reciprocate with causing you  grief with poor performance.

2. Is there any way for him to improve his diet?

Yes, I suggest having him read and adhere to a book by Dr. Barry Sears "A week in the Zone".  That is a very good start.
