So, im 13 and have had my period for about 3 years (im a quick devoloper-already DD boobs :) the problem is its really irregular. they usually go for about a week, and theyre REALLY heavy ( which is really annoying to take care of since im in high school) and
Never know when theyre coming!!!! so i can never plan things around it-Its so annoying!! so ive been thinking about taking birth pills to regulate and lighten my flow ( i also heard they get rid of acne, which would be great) but Am i too young?? and ive also heard they make you gain weight-is this true?? and also my older sis and bro hav low iron and take tablets, ive heard that heavy irregular periods could be outcome of low iron, and taking tablets will regulate flow- is this true??? i sometimes feel like im going to faint for no reason is this a sign of low iron?? ( and its defanatly not coz i dont eat enough) im not sure what to do and havn't talked to mum about it yet.
sorry its so long-im confused
thanks in advance :)
AnswerDid you get the answer I sent you below
Hello Louie,
Yes, I think you should talk to your mum about everything if you have a good relationship with her.
I don't recommend birth control pills or any kind of hormonal medication. This can cause side effects and may be dangerous to your health, especially at 13. You can usually find another way to help your periods or just live with them. I don't agree with taking birth control pills for acne either.
I would consider iron tablets if I were you. But all this needs to be checked with to a doctor. You do need to find out why you think you are going to faint. Will you please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and let me know how you are doing. I'm concerned about you. Also, tell your Mum to feel free to talk to me as well about any subject.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
