Heavy Period with Blood Clots: Causes & When to Worry

I had my daughter almost 2 years ago. Since then my cycle has been heavy the first couple days. But now it seems I am passing a large amounts of clots the second day. Each is the amount of a table spoon and estimating It could possibly fill half to 3/4 of a cup in a 12 hour time frame. Is this normal? My doctor is leaving our practice and we are in the middle of changing insurance so it will be about 3 weeks before being able to make an appointment.

heavy periods are common,especially in young women who arent ovulating regularly .the clotting is normal as well,believe it or not.
about 30% of women complain of this,but only 10% experience blood loss severe enough to be worried about and need treatment.

but i will say if you think is getting worse and your feel weak,go to the ER at your local hospital.i also suggest wearing pads,no tampons.
