Heavy Post-Abortion Bleeding: What to Do?

Question
QUESTION: i Had an abortion on 20Mar, my follow-up check says that things are fine. I continued to have on and off spotting and bleeding. Until 25Apr i started to bleed heavier, which i suspect to be my period. But weirdly, i don bleed much during th night. However, today 27Mar im having very heavy bleeding. Im soaking my pads through. In the morning at 7am i had a fresh pad on. By 10:15 it was soaked thoroughly. I changed but by 1:30pm it was soaked thoroughly again. Im also passing big clots, but i cant determine th size caus they just went in the toilet bowl. What is happening to me? Is this just heavy period or is something wrong inside me? Im very scared!

ANSWER: Hi :)

I t could definitely be a heavy period, but to make sure, call up the place where you had the procedure done and check; they should be able to give you an answer quickly. If it gets ANY heavier, please seek emergency attention.

QUESTION: The heavy bleeding stopped by around 4 plus. Now the bleeding has slowed by alot. Could it still be my period? But its too light to be.

Answer
Some times periods change after an abortion, so it could be a new bleeding pattern. Or the bleeding from the procedure is winding down-for some women, it can take quite a while. I'm really glad that the heavy bleeding has stopped-as long as that's happened, it's ok. It might be a trial and error situation, where you have to wait and see if another period shows up in a month.
