Irregular Periods After Abortion: Causes & What to Expect

Since November 2005 I've had very regular periods, I got them on the 11th of every month. In March 2006 I became pregnant. I had an abortion done on May 1st. My period came surprisingly regular on the 11th of June, and then again on the 8th of July. Now it is August 13th and my period still has not come. I don't remember a time having unprotected sex around my last calculated ovulation date so I was wondering if this late period could be due to the abortion and my period just getting back into a regular cycle? I'm worried but at the same time doubt in any way that I could possibly be pregnant. What would you suggest to be the cause of my late period?

  Thanks so much for your question! Yes, after having an abortion, it does take a while for your body to re-adjust, but it sounds like it already had. There are countless causes for a missed period. Pregnancy is the most obvious but stress, malnutrition, and sometimes nothing at all can cause a late or missed period.
