QuestionI'm getting ready to go fake again. I've had acrylic in the past, but without the right nail tech I find they can be very thick - which to me looks very fake and, frankly, cheap and tacky. I plan to keep my nails painted w/ French manicure. Are any of the other nail techniques more realistic looking? Or does my issue boil down to the expertise of the nail tech?
AnswerWell, getting realistic enhancements really depends on the tech's skills. Many techs falsely belive that thicker is stonger, but the secret for strenght is in the structure, a correctly build apex (this is the thickest part of the nail and should be placed around the middle, if you press downwards on your free edge it's were the white apears) is what really gives strenght to the nail, the rest should be as thin as possible to obtain a natural look and to avoid a big ledge when the nail is growing out.
So look for a qualified tech, using a good brand and that preferaby has some experience. And don't be afraid to ask for what you want at any point, if the nail is too thick (sometimes you only can see this at the end) if it too long, etc.
