Gel Fill Nails: A Gentle Alternative to Acrylics | Victoria's Nails

Question
Hi,

I'm sick of my short stubby nails, I cannot stop biting them. Acrylic nails are too damaging. What is up with gell fill nails? I see they are much more exspensive, are they less damaging? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Emily,

Please allow me to explain.  There are several types of nail enhancements on the market (see here for descriptions on ALL: http://ongles-chez-victoria.tripod.com/victoriasnails/id16.html) with the most popular being Acrylic (Liquid & Powder) and Uv Gel.  Please note:  BOTH "Acrylic" and "UV Gel" are BOTH made from acrylic.  The difference being that 'acrylic' is mixed immediately before application while "UV Gel" is mixed beforehand and ready to apply when the container is opened.
Also, NO type of enhancement is better than another.  Nor is any type less damaging.  This is FALSE.  What is damaging to natural nails is A) bad technicians doing their work improperly   B) cheap toxic products as used by the NSS that are ILLEGAL.

UV Gel's should NOT be any pricier than Acrylic.  it sounds to me that someone (probably NSS)is trying to 'scam' you.  Please refer to this page to learn about NSS & MMA which is a toxic product often found in 'discount' salons.http://ongles-chez-victoria.tripod.com/victoriasnails/id18.html

This will help you in discerning what enhancements are best for you AND to choose a quality and well trained technician that has yournatural nail health in mind and not just the almighty dollar.

Best regards
Victoria
