Hi Emma

When removing your nail enhancements, using acetone, it's uncessary to 'protect the skin'.
However, I do advise using cuticle oil, rubbed into the cuticle, nail & surrounding skin several times daily.

Regarding the question you left in the rating for me (btw, thanks for the nicem rating!), yes, you can use hand cream after.
HOWEVER hand cream is made up mostly of fillers and the molecules are not small enough to penetrate the nail plate and nourish adequately, so it only sits on the surface.
To get real results, you are best off to use a jojoba oil based cuticle oil which contains the smallest molecule of all oils.
