Fungal Nail Infection & Acrylic Nails: Risks & Removal

Hi

I recently have been suffering from fungal (black nail) on my big toe. And i have a acrylic one over it as I can bear to see it look black, Does this make it worse in any way or is it ok to do lave it on as long as its regularly unfilled etc??

Hi SOle.
YES. Please remove the acrylic. Let your toe nail heal naturally. I know it will look bad but there is a chance the acrylic could complicate or prolong the fungal growth. Also be sure to spray your shoes and rotate them. Never use the toe nail clipper on that toe and then your others as this can spread it. Same goes for a nail file. POlish is ok. Just be careful and cautious and let it grow out on its own.
