Nail Crack Repair & Treatment: Understanding Nail Damage

Is there anything to repair a nail that has a crack from the nail bed to the end
of the nail?  Overtime it starts to grow out, the nail will eventually split and
I have to cut it short again.

This crack will have been the result of damage sustained to the matrix of the nail, which is based at the cuticle end of the nail, under the skin.
As you describe, it will always split once it reaches the free edge.
The best course of action is to get an experienced nail technician to apply a thin overlay on your nail of eith acrylic, gel of fibreglass.
This will need to be maintained every 2-3 weeks as it grows up.
I have a few clients that have had this done for a few yrs now, and it works well.
They usually have a manicure on their other nails every time we rebalance the overlay on the damaged nail.
