Permanent Toenail Removal: Options, Risks & Alternatives
Questionhi i was wondering if you could help my mother has had thicked big toe nails ever since she was litle and was forced to wear incorrect sized shoes. The left toe nail is worse, it is tiny compared to the right but is thicker, she has seen her gp who said that the toe nail could be removed sugically and chemically prohibited from regowing however she will be left will no toe nail and thikened skin, will that not look worse? What would you advise? What can she do or use if she decided to go ahead with sugery in order to give the impression that she does have a nail and therefore can feel comfertable wearing sandles? Could she use a false nail? Will stick on well as their will be no nail underneath?
Many thanks
Natasha
AnswerI would recomend that you visit a highly qualified nail tech before you do anything. Sometime you can apply a corrective enhancement over the nail to give it a more natural apearance, or if the nail is missing a fake nail can me custom made to fit the toe, and the client can glue it on whenever necessary. Perhaps if it is just for the estetics the nail can be kept and yet achieve a nice look.If there is a true need to remove the nail i'm sure there will a be a nice solution too.
If you have trouble finding a good nail tech i recomend that you do a search on the Creative Nail Design website, they susally have very good techs.
Hope i could help.
