Maintaining Pink & White Gel Nails: How Often Should You Replace Them?

Question
I currently have pink and white gel nails.  I got them put on in October.  My nail technician insists that I get a new set every 2 or 3 months.  This is just about the time that there is not much white left on the nail.  I thought that they should be able to fill the white without having to give me a new set.  They say that the gel gets old and should be replaced.  I get maintenance every 2 weeks, there is usually lifting on 3 or 4 of my nails in between maintenance.  Is this normal?   Should they be giving me a new set every 2-3 months?

Answer
Time to shop for a new tech my dear.

If your nails are being rebalanced correctly, there is no need to EVER replace a set of nails.  And every 2-3 weeks the white should be replaced, as well as the apex of the nail- this is where the balance of the nail is, and where it gets strength from without thickness.
