QuestionI had acrylic nails put on with the pink and white. They looked very nice. Went back to have what I thought was a fill two weeks later. Someone else did them and they redid the pink and the white part again. After I noticed a red line thru all my nails. Waited two weeks went somewhere else had them done and by that night the cuticle area already was lifting. Waited and went to another lady who told me she only needed to do a pink fill. I could see thru every nail it growing out. Went back again today after a couple of weeks and she said again she only needs to do the pink. All I can see tonight is the big grow out lines on all my nails like there wasn't anything really put on them. She told me next time we will do both colors.
I am pretty new to this nail thing and there is also a big language barrier. Do you think that I should be seeing where the nail is growing out because it is up halfway on all my nails? When I had them done the first initial time they were thick looking and shiny.
Help!!
AnswerFirst of all, you really need to find a nail technician that you can communicate with. As long as communication is difficult you will continue to experience dissatisfaction because you and your nail technician can't understand what the other is saying.
Since you were satisfied with the first set I would recommend going back to the technician who initially applied your nails. If you are going to a walk-in shop you may have to be prepared to wait for that particular tech instead of getting in with who ever is available first, but being happy with your service is worth the wait. Or see if the salon takes appointments.
I'm not sure what you meant when you referred to a "red line" going through all your nails? I am thinking that the red line is what we refer to as "rings of fire" where the tech who did that fill filed too aggressively into your natural nail with either a hand file or drill.
As for the tech who wanted to only fill the pink and not the pink AND white... some techs don't fill both colors every time. If you want both colors filled at each rebalancing just say so. I know some of my clients hate to be able to see light between their pink and white when they hold their hands up, where others drive me crazy because they want a very small amount of white at their tips and it looks, to me, like they need a backfill. Everyone's personal tastes differ, so it's important that you can communicate with the person doing your nails so you can be sure you get them done the way you want!
As for your actual questions, this is hard to answer because I can see exactly what you're talking about. Do you mean the pink is halfway up your nailbed? or do you mean the white is halfway off the free edge (tip) of your nails? You should be able to go 2 to 3 weeks between fills with about an 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch of new nail growth showing at the cuticle in that time.
Nails grow much faster in the spring, so this time of year can make it hard to keep up with maintenance on enhancements because many people's nails are growing faster than normal. There's also the possibility that YOUR nails just grow faster than normal. After your fill, the product should be almost, but not quite, all the way back to your cuticle. About 1/16 of an inch space should be all the way around between the product and the skin.
The white is totally arbitrary. It should be where you want it to be, whether that means filling the white every other fill, or every fill, you'll have to talk to your nail tech about where you like the white to be.
Hopefully I'm giving you the information you were hoping for. Like I said, this is definitely one of those situations where it would be helpful to see what you're talking about. I really think your best bet in this case is to go back to the person who did your full set. It sounds like you were very happy with the way that person did them, so it's most likely worth the effort to make sure that's the person who continues doing them.
Good luck! I hoped I helped.
