QuestionI had acrylic nails done for the first time a week ago. They were asian people which I always see running salons so no big deal to me. The whole process took maybe 30 mins. The lady used an electric file on my natural nail and the picked the nails for my fingers. She used nail clippers to cut them where I wanted them. She them used the electric file again to smooth what she just clipped. She then pulled out a purple liquid and a lightly tinted puple powder. Nothing was labeled! She put a glob on each finger and smoothed it out. She didn't speak to me much just to co-workers in a different language. She wore a mask. After she asked me to wash my hands. She painted them and told me not to touch it. I knicked it standing up and she just painted it leaving it dented. Other than that I was happy. Two days ago I hit it on the ground grabbing my puppy my entire nail and nail bed ripped off even the nail under the cuticle and skin. Never had so much pain!!! I was reading about it because my friend has had them done for like 12 years and has never seen or heard of the whole nail taken off. I wasn't sure if they used mma? Where they legit and should I go in and complain? Please help
AnswerLaurie,
The exact same thing has happened to me before! I lost my whole nail and had to go to the ER to remove my entire nail plate and yes it hurt very bad.
Unfortunitely this was not the nail technicians fault. Everything she did was legit. The reason that happened to you and not your friend is because we all have different nails and we all react the acrylics differently.
In my case I have very adhesive nail beds. When I where nail polish it never chips off. And when I wear acrylics, They never lift and if i break it, I REALLY break it. Compared to others who may have their nail polish chipping in 2 days, and acrylics lift right off of them. This is due to oily nail plates or non oily nail plates.
You need to understand that in your case for whatever reason you just hit it really hard, or you too have an adhesive nail plate. Point is if you choose to wear Acrylics again where them at your own risk and be extra careful.
As for the tech being rude, or not having her stuff labled that is a totally different subject and it is probably do to the fact that its a cheap little dirty nail salon and products are cheap therefore services are cheap. You get what you pay for,
