QuestionHi Heather. We are actually friends on Myspace! (atouchofclass) I am actually a newbie nail technician and for my English 101 first big Research Paper, I am doing the Effects of MMA, hoping to learn as much as I can about it! I have gotten some great information from various sources already, including your website! The subject where I am lacking in information is the infections that are associated with/caused by MMA. Are they just the basic Paronychia and Onychia that can occur, or are there various types of infections specifically related to MMA? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!
AnswerHey sweetie!!
OK, the reason you are lacking in infections related to MMA is because there AREN'T any. Infection can only be caused by an outside bacterial invader entering the body. Now the thing about MMA with that? You have to excessively "rough up" the nailplate to even MAKE MMA based L&P adhere, and the excessive roughing can cause splits in the nailplate and cuts in the cuticle, which in turn opens the body up to infection. :)
If you haven't already- go sign up on www.salongeek.com as a nail tech- the amount of information for nail techs borders on ridiculous, and all of it helpful.

Good luck on your paper!! I wrote one similar to it my freshman year of college lol. I got an A, I'm sure you will do the same... :)
