Acrylic Nail Lifting: Causes, Prevention & Solutions for Nail Technicians

QUESTION: Hello,
     My name is Jameelah and I have been a licensed nail technician for about five years, Right before I graduated from school I noticed that my acrylics were starting to lift starting at the cuticle area, and sometimes the whole nail will fall off. I have asked so many people what can I do and I get the same answers. I have prepped and sanitized the nail so much, I take extra time for that and the still lift. I am thinking that when I do the liquid to powder ratio I am not mixing correctly. I use the bigger sized brushes like a 16 because I always do long acrylics, and I can never do the one bead applications like in the nail shops....Please Help

Since you have been a tech for so long and you (as I read)have been experimenting what the cause could be I would like to know a few more things before I can properly answer your question:

Are you taking any different medication (hormones, steroids)
Are you pregnant
What type of products are you using (what brands)

QUESTION: Hey its Jameelah again, and the answers to your questions are I am not on any medications and I am not pregnant, and the product that I have always used is the creative solar nail liquids, and creative intensive pink powder. I have always used these products, do you think that I should try something different? Please Help!!!!!!!

Dear Jameela,

We would suggest to inform with Creative if they have changed anything with the formula of the products. In any case try another brand such as EzFlow, IBD or Super Nail to compare the results. I have no idea why and I do not wish to speak bad about other brands but I have heard this complaint about Creative before although they have a good reputation.

Please try the following also with an electric drill machine: prep the natural nail with a prepper bit, and after applying the acrylic, file the cuticle area with the tapered buffer. With this method it should work for 99% sure.
