QuestionMy dad bought me a ring for my 18th birthday, and when me and my dad went to buy it, the jeweller said the ring was 18ct and real sapphire and diamond, but when I got received the ring on my birthday, I was looking at the ring, and realised that the ring isn't actually stamped anywhere, so does this mean that my ring isn't actually real gold? But it is antique.
AnswerG'day Amy and many thanks for your query.
Antique jewelry is MORE likely to be stamped than not - so just because there is a lack of a stamp, doesn't mean it is Antique (100 years old or more).
What did the jewelers receipt say?
There should have been some sort of guarantee, so if you are not happy, go back to the jeweler and ask for WRITTEN proof.
If they won't do that - get your money back and find another one. If they are any good, they will give you some sort of satisfaction.
You might also like to add this query to my Jewelry Forum at http://www.online-jewelry-appraisals.net/jewelry-forum/ as other may have had a similar problem. Can't hurt anyway and who knows what answers you may get.
Hope this helps...
