I found your name on experts.about.com. Several years ago I purchased a beautiful sparkling necklace at a consignment store. It has 31 cascading rings of claw set clear stones in 3 rows(9 stones on each ring)and 14 hanging set clear stones. The marking on the box chain clasp has what I would describe as a bull horn and 925 with the word spain. I assumed it to be siver from Spain, but can't seem to find any information on spanish markings to determine a date or origin. Any ideas?

AnswerCarol, the best I can do on this is tell you that 925 is pretty much internationally recognized as meaning Sterling Silver, with 925 representing the fine(pure silver) while the rest of the mix is generally copper.
As for markings other than the quality mark for the metal, I have no information on that. Sorry, that is out of my field of knowledge. I wish I could help more.
