Reseating a Diamond: Finding a Jeweler to Reset Your Center Stone
QuestionHi!
I am planning to reset my engagement ring center diamond. I am having a setting custom designed for my stone. However, I am doing the entire transaction long distance with a jeweler- I ordered it online and will be having it shipped to me. Once I receive it, I have to actually get the stone transfer done. My question is: am I going to have a hard time finding jeweler to reset a stone into a mounting that wasn't bought from them? I never thought about it until now, unfortunately. Also, are there any possible issues regarding this process that I should be aware of? Any advice you can give would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much!
P.S. Having my diamond shipped to the jeweler I am dealing with online is not an option for me. I refuse to take the risk of my precious diamond being lost or stolen during shipment- hence why I am doing things the way that I am.
AnswerLocate a jeweler in your area that you can trust first. It may be a better Idea to do everything with the local jeweler just in case the work turns out to be less than you expect.
