Accidentally Removed Antique Finish on Silver Necklace – How to Restore It
Question
silver mobius strip ne
I received a silver necklace with a mobius strip pendant approximately the size of a quarter with words engraved on both sides. All of the engraving was dark compared to the actual silver of the necklace (antiquing? or something of that nature) and I used silver cleaner on it, not knowing that it would remove the darkness of the engraving. It didn't harm the necklace but the engraving no longer "pops" like it used to and I was wondering if there was anything that I could do to fix it. I have already taken it to a jeweler who said I could purchase black acrylic paint and fix it on my own but I don't know that I feel comfortable with that unless I know exactly what I'm doing. Could you help me?

the black you removed was either oxidized or antique paint with the latter being more of a good guess. You can go into a hobby shop or hardware store and purchase black antique paint and use a very small brush to brush it on wait a few minutes and then wipe off the access, since the letters are engraved it should be fine.....dont use any chemical paint remover just a cloth....
all the best
