Understanding Jewelry Hallmarks: What Does 925 & DL Mean?

Hi!
I just inherited a beautiful piece of jewelry. A gold bracelet with diamond and gemstones...My question is it is marked 925 with the initials DL with circle around the initals . someone told me this meant silver but the bracelet looks gold to me ....Thank you

HI ELAINE,

THE 925 STAMP IS THE STAMP FOR STERLING SILVER, SO I WOULD SUSPECT THAT IS WHAT IT IS. THERE IS YELLOW SILVER JUST LIKE THERE IS WHITE GOLD, THERE IS JUST A DIFFERENT MIX OF ALLOYS. THE DL IN THE CIRCLE IS MOST LIKELY THE MFG. MARK.
