While it's very hard to assess jewelry value or purity without seeing it I would guess that stamps means it is a piece that is either dipped in almost pure gold (gold plated) or is a very high purity level of gold. 24k gold (or 100% pure gold) is not really used in jewelry because it is so soft and can't really take the wear and tear 14k, or 18K can.
