Engagement Ring Resizing: Finding a Skilled Jeweler in Central Jersey

Question
Hi,

I just got engaged.  The ring needs to be resized to a larger sized.

Is this something that I should put alot of effort into finding the right craftsman to do the job?  Or can I drop it off at any of the chain jewelry stores and expect the job to be done well?

I am located in Central Jersey.  Can you recommend someone in this area to do the work?

I think I would really like to obtain a referral and be confident that it will be done correctly without any mishaps.

Thanks,
Carlton

Answer
For any Goldsmith resizing a ring should be the simplest thing...
if for some reason the stone is soft and difficult to take out of the mounting which has to be done before using the torch that can be a problem... for example tanzanite.... you may want to shop around for price.. at least two... I assume the ring his gold...
remember if you are resizing it smaller there will be a little piece of gold left over... and if you are enlarging the ring, the Goldsmith will have to add some gold of his own..
so this will make a big difference in the price...
basically I think you can go anywhere reputable..
one thing to look for is a good polishing job after the
ring is sized you should see no joint there at all..
if so return it for proper polishing..
