Tanzanite Ring Resizing: Safety & Process - Expert Advice

Hi there:

I have a 14K gold men's tanzanite ring, the cushion cut tanzanite measures 12mm x 12mm. The ring needs to resized from 10.5 to 9.5, Should the tanzanite stone be removed for resizing, I heard that extreme heat may shatter a tanzanite stone? The ring setting is quite large. Thanks, Wayne

HI Wayne,

Yes tanzanite is very heat sensitive.  They are also soft.  So be careful, just wearing it.  I would wear it for special outings or occasions.  Everyday wear will wear it down, I am  re-polishing these all the time.
