Resizing an Engagement Ring: Will It Affect Channel Set Diamonds?

The ring in question
My boyfriend and I recently purchased my engagement ring on the internet, and it turns out I didn't really know my ring size like I thought I did. The ring is a 5.5 and I need it to be sized down to a 5. My question is, will sizing it down .5 make the channel set diamonds on either side loose. There are 4 channel set diamonds on either side of the center stone. The ring has never been sized before (it was cast at a 5.5). Please help.... I so worried about the diamonds possibly falling out :(

Just 1/2 size down should not compromise any of the diamonds, make sure you take it to a jeweler who knows what they are doing, and make sure when you pick up the ring that they show you the diamonds are still tight.....by using a pointed tool, they can rock the diamonds back and forth, if they are loose you will see them moving...if not they will stay tight.
