Sterling Silver Ring with Diamond Symbol: Is it Real?

i have an older sterling silver ring and it has a good size stone in it inside the band says sterling and there is a diamond symbol with an odd marking 3 waves is the best i can describe it can u tell me what this means

Hi Laura, It would be rare for an older sterling ring to have a genuine diamond set in it since diamond, due to its hardness, would saw thru the silver very quickly in everyday wear and manufacturers basically shy away from the practice of marrying the two components. A good jeweler can test the stone of its culture to see what it may be. My guess is either white sapphire, cz, or stontium titinate or some other clear stone. the mark you refer to is just the manufacturers stamp and has no other significance to mu knowledge. Good luck.
