Identifying and Valuing a Vintage USN Sterling Silver Ring

Question
I Found a USN, sterling silver ring in my parents yard. It was about  inches into the dirt. it has Sterling engraved on the underside along with an S with an arrow through it. On the top it has an anchor with USN across it. The anchor is off centered to the right.   My question is, How old is it and about how much do you think it is worth?  Thank you

Answer
Hi Josh, Wow! quite a find. Impossible to tell its age, the Navy contracts with so many vendors. I have heard that the ring when new goes for around $300 but in Sterling Silver its metal value is less than $40 at today's spot silver price. Good luck. You may want to contact your local recruiter to see if he has any records available.
